JS Knights win the JS Bank Chairman’s Cricket Tournament, 2015

The JS Bank Chairman’s Cricket Tournament 2015 final was a spectacular T-20 night fixture played between JS Knights and JS Lions, which concluded on Friday 10th April, 2015. The tournament commenced on 8th April with a total of 15 matches being played between 8 teams of JS Bank employees. The teams represented the presence of JS Bank from across the country.

The tournament winning team JS Knights won the final by over 50 runs and remained unbeaten during the tournament. Muhammad Shahbaz was the “Man of the Match” for scoring 52 runs and having gotten a wicket. The other notable performer in the final was the captain of JS Knights, Ahmed Javed who led from the front with both bat and ball and guided the team to a comfortable victory. Ahmed was also awarded the “Man of the Tournament” for his outstanding all rounded performance during the tournament.

In an impressive closing ceremony attended by a large number of JS Bank employees along with their families, cash awards and trophies were distributed by Mr Jahangir Siddiqui, Chairman JS Bank and Mr Khalid Imran, President JS Bank to the winning team JS Knights and to the runners-up team JS Lions. All the participating teams were also awarded medals.

PACRA Upgrades JS Bank’s Short-Term Rating to A1+ – Wednesday, 13th March, 2015

The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has upgraded the short-term rating of JS Bank Limited to “A1+” (A One Plus) [Previous: ‘A1’]. The long-term rating of the bank has been maintained at “A+” (A Plus). These ratings denote a low expectation of credit risk while the capacity for timely payment of financial commitments is considered strong.

The ratings reflect steady fortification in JS Bank’s business profile. The bank continues to strengthen its market share in terms of deposits and advances. This has enabled the bank to build core revenues to a level – and growing – to adequately absorb costs. Lately, sizeable other operating income, an outcome of strong treasury operations, provided requisite boost to the profitability. This helped in consolidating capital adequacy, in turn, risk absorption capacity of the bank. The management intends to remain cautious – reflective in stated strategy of balancing advances growth and liquidity. The management is following a wholesome business strategy with prudent expansion targets through wide slate of liability and asset products. At the same time, it would continue to expand its operational scale. This is likely to add diversity and sustainability to the bank’s overall profile.

The bank aspires to sustain its overall growth momentum to enhance its competitiveness in a challenging banking industry. Consequent penetration – high share in system’s loans and deposits – besides ensuring sustainability in revenues would result in a further improvement of ratings. Meanwhile, rationalization in concentration levels would remain important.

JS Bank’s posts a strong result: Year on Year Three Times Increase in Earnings and EPS – 6 March, 2015

Karachi: JS Bank Limited (JSBL) announced its 2014 result posting a profit after tax of PKR 1,060.039 million in CY14 compared to PKR 351.283 million in CY13. Board of Directors of JS Bank in its meeting held on Tuesday February 24, 2015 approved the audited Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2014. Bank’s Earning Per Share (EPS) increased to PKR 0.99 for the year 2014 from PKR 0.33 in CY13. Bank’s Net Interest Income (NII) stood at PKR 3,854.040 million and non-markup income at PKR 2,590.161 million. JS Bank posted a profit before tax of PKR 1,608.225 million in CY14 compared to PKR 501.371 million in CY13.

The balance sheet registered a YoY growth of 56.7% to reach PKR 176,717 million as at December 31, 2014. Deposits increased to PKR 108,740 million as compared to PKR 80,916 million in the previous year, a YoY growth of 34.4%. Gross advances grew to PKR 58,765 million as compared to PKR 35,164 million in the previous year, a YoY growth of 67.1%.

Given that the bank has shown such robust performance in what has been a difficult time for the local economy, is testament to the prudent management and financial discipline at the bank. JS Bank is one of the fastest growing commercial banks in Pakistan, it has a large network of 238 branches across 122 cities of Pakistan with plans to expand its outreach with more branches nationwide.

Pakistan Wins International Wheelchair Cricket – 26 February, 2015

Pakistan’s wheelchair cricket team made history by beating the host Nepal in all 3 T-20 matches and won the International Wheelchair Cricket Winter Cup series. If anybody wants to take inspiration to play cricket then these players are the perfect role model for everyone in Pakistan. The team members were hosted at the JS Group’s Head office and their performance was widely appreciated.

Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui, Chairman JS Bank along with Mrs. Mahvash Siddiqui, Chairperson Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (MJSF) commented on the occasion, it is our immense pleasure to have provided the specialized Walkabout Foundation wheelchairs to the Pakistan Cricket team as we strongly believe in giving back to the society.
The team’s excellent performance has been widely appreciated especially since this was the first time that the national wheelchair team has won this title.

Dawar, who led Pakistan to a 3-0 sweep of Nepal in the International Wheelchair Cricket Winter Cup Series, held in Kathmandu, appreciated Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation for supporting the cricket team.
