September 30, 2014 – IBA Inaugurates the Jahangir Siddiqui Auditorium

Karachi, September 30, 2014: The Jahangir Siddiqui (JS) Auditorium was officially inaugurated by the Dean & Director IBA, Dr. Ishrat Husain and Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui, Chairman, JS Group at IBA city campus.

Together, Dr. Ishrat and Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui unveiled the plaque of the auditorium and declared it open.

The JS Auditorium is a state-of-the-art facility, which has materialized, due to the generous contribution made by the Mahwash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation (MJSF).

Addressing the audience, the architecture Ali Korai for the project explained that this auditorium had all the modern facilities, with a capacity of more than 400 people, it is perfect for lecture series, plays, movie screenings etc. He said the auditorium has mindfully been designed to assist the disabled members of our society and ramps had been integrated in its design to make it accessible for them. He also informed the audience about the auditoriums many merits, such as, banking facilities, changing rooms, washrooms, adequate lighting and low maintenance. The interior of the auditorium has been designed by Naheed Mashookullah.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO MJSF, Mr. Ali Siddiqui thanked all the participants for enabling the completion of this project. He said that this auditorium was a contribution towards an all-inclusive and a united society. He hoped that IBA would use this facility to promote great intellect, tolerance and a united front for the betterment of Pakistan. He further added that, MJSF trusted IBA fully and expected that IBA would play an integral role by utilizing this facility to the maximum as IBA’s history is such that in its 60 years, 60-70% of its alumni have served the country in many prominent positions, thus he expects that more good would generate from this initiative.

Addressing the attendees, Dr. Ishrat Husain said that it was a momentous time for IBA, as JS Auditorium was the first construction at the institute’s city campus since the year 1965. He thanked MJSF and Jahangir Siddiqui for their generous support towards construction and successful completion of the project. He said that IBA was not only imparting quality business education but now the institution has diversified by offering degree programs in the disciplines of Computer Sciences, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts, as per the requirements of the society.

“IBA has 50 PhD scholars, who are engaged in providing education of international standards,” said Dr. Ishrat, he specifically praised the support of the philanthropists and donors for providing support to the institute in the construction of 14 new buildings at both main and city campuses.

Prominent personalities of the city, businessmen and other dignitaries also attended the ceremony.

5 December 2013 – Appointment of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

The Board of Directors of Jahangir Siddiqui & Co. Ltd. (the Company) in their meeting held on December 5, 2013 at 11:00 am, at 6th Floor, Faysal House, Shahra-e-Faisal, Karachi have appointed Chief Justice (R) Mahboob Ahmed as Chairman of the Company for a term of three years.

Further, the Board of Directors also re-appointed Mr. Suleman Lalani as Chief Executive Officer of the Company for the period of three years.

25 September 2013 – JS Bank promotes Solar Systems Solutions financing

A signing ceremony was held at JS Bank Head Office for signing of MOU between JS Bank Limited and Nizam Energy (Pvt) Limited on September 16, 2013 to promote and finance Solar Systems Solutions in Pakistan as part of JS Bank’s business strategy and corporate social responsibility. 21 July 2013 – Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation and Sajjad Foundation (Singapore) sponsored students for a Summer Program at the National University of Singapore (NUS)

The Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation representatives met with the students on their return from the NUS Summer Program on Economic and Enterprise Development. These fifteen students were selected after extensive interview sessions from universities nationwide.
This was a two week summer program being held at the National University of Singapore (NUS) with the students from Pakistan being the 2nd largest group being represented. This year’s program hosted a large multicultural and diverse community of over 60 students from 12 countries, providing an excellent opportunity for participants to learn about Singapore: how the smallest nation in Southeast Asia has progressed into a modern city-state and has grown into a thriving centre of commerce and industry. These students also get an opportunity to learn about creative and innovative ideas to start their own business in future and be an entrepreneur.
The students were also hosted by the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Singapore and the event was attended by the leading Pakistani businessmen and professionals residing in Singapore to support the initiative undertaken by Mahvash & Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation and Sajjad Foundation. The Pakistani students excelled in their work and were highly appreciated by National University of Singapore Faculty and other participants for their valuable participation to enhance the overall learning among all.
This is the 6th year Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation and Sajjad Foundation (Singapore) have been running the NUS Summer program on Economic and Enterprise Development as a continuous effort in making investments into various education initiatives in Pakistan. 25 January 2013 – JS Bank Hosts ICFJ Delegation

A delegation of US based journalists from International Centre for Journalists (ICFJ) were hosted by Mr. Kalim ur Rahman – CEO, JS Bank at a local hotel. Their visit to Pakistan has been organized as part of the US – Pakistan Professional Partnership in Journalism Forum to enhance the exchange of views between the two nations and to help formulate a softer opinion of each other in the media of their respective countries.

9 January 2013 – JS Bank and CRPL sign agreement
