Karachi: JS Academyfor the Deaf celebrated the graduation ceremony of their first batch of B.A. students. An award ceremony was held to laud the brilliant efforts made by these multitalented individuals and their instructors. The graduating batch was presented with the “Best Performance” awards.
Ms. Laila Dossa, Chairman of Noor-E-Ali Trust, and Mr. Kalim-ur-Rahman, Advisor to Mahvash& Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation, graced the auspicious occasion with their presence and applauded the administration, instructors and students for their hard work and brilliance and wished them luck for future endeavors. Ms. Laila Dossa, during her speech, appreciated Mr. Jahangir Siddiqui’s continual support for the cause ever since she had presented her idea to him. She also emphasized it was very important to provide job opportunities for people with special needs.
Mr. Kalim-ur-Rahman expressed his pleasure upon seeing how well equipped the Academy is and congratulated the graduating class on their excellent performance. He went on to mention that he never could have imagined that deaf students could be educated and facilitated in a way that is hardly even available to the masses.
Principal, Ms. Shehla Ali, highlighted the achievements of the administration and students. She was proud to announce that out of a batch of 10 students, 3 had acquired distinctions while the others had scored a percentage over 70% in their B.A. final examination.
JS Academy for the Deaf is a project that was initiated by Mahvash and Jahangir Siddiqui Foundation and Noor-E-Ali Trust in the year 2004. The Academy started off with just 5 students and 4 teachers and since then has increased its programs exponentially and in the year 2012 they were granted affiliation with Karachi University to undertake BA Degree Program.
